In Bavaria

Well now we are in regenburg Germany. It's been unseasonably co
D in a region where seasonably cold is bad enough. We've also been outside a lot. Logistically this trip has been very interesting. Low water in the Danube due to a dry fall. We've had to be bussed to a few places and actually just arrived at the ship we signed up for. We were on a different ship for 3 days and then we were bussed from Passaic to regenburg today. It put a bit of a damper on things but hey, we are in Bavaria! So no complaining here. I mean some of our travel companions may be complaining but I'm not mentioning any names. :)

Anyway, I adored vienna. It's unreal how opulent and gorgeous and utterly beautiful that city is. It's like a movie set. They set up these giant Christmas markets where they sell crafts and pretzels and gluwein, which is a hot red wine. Needless to say it is delicious. We mastered the Viennese metro system and even got ourselves to the concert house for a string quartet, because everyone knows that you must hear live music in Vienna. It was quite an experience. We toured schonnbrunn palace, which was the summer home of the hapsburgs. So beautiful.

Then we went to melk, by ship and experienced some scenic cruising. Melk Abby was amazing. Most things are in the baroque style, which is th heaven on earth style. In other words, unbelievably opulent.

Today we were in Passaic, stranded in the cold for half a day. Most attractions closed for the winter so we walked up to some giant medieval fortress. Steep climb so it kept us warm. Drinking lots of wine and even talking to strangers. That's actually unavoidable because of the seating situation T meals, but so far it has been nothing but pleasant, surprisingly enough.

The ship is really nice. The cabins are more sophisticated and elegant than ocean cruise ships and there are less than 200 passengers so it's not total
Y overwhelming. The staff have been very good and I have to give credit that I am still having a good time despite the change in plans.

Anyway, I have not been able to figure out how to upload pictures so I guess I will wait till I get home. Auf weirder sheen!
