Greetings from Budapest! Despite the fact that I am spoked to be on the Viking prestige river cruise right now, I am actually
Aging on my bed at the very nice Corinthian grand hotel with aching feet and a bottle of cheap (very cheap!) red wine. Apparently it has been a very dry fall and the river is too low to get the ship from Vienna to Budapest. Viking has booked us an extra night here and tomorrow we are all being bussed to vienna. We'll have less time on the ship, obviously but more time in Vienna, so I am ok with it.
We've had a busy few days in Budapest and I feel
Good that we covered most of the sites I wanted to.
We have toured st steven's basilica, walked down andrassy ave many times, went to the house of terroir, which is a museum about what happened to the Hungarians during the nazi and then soviet occupation. Jon enjoyed that. Today we saw the art museum, then I dragged Jon to the public bath house, which was quite an experience, then we walked over to look at the parliament bldg and then toured the opera house, which was really nice. Last night we went to dinner in. Uda, which is on the other side of the Danube. It's pretty over there, but there seems to be more to do in pest. Overall it's been a nice and interesting time. The people are not very friendly, but Jon is telling me not to dwell on that. He's being very zen.
I will try to post some pictures in a little bit, and as time permits I'll give more details about what we have done so far. Having a lovely, if a bit tiring time!

Sounds like fun! Wish I was there. I think you should expect Eastern Europeans to be unfriendly - that's their thing - don't take it personally. The Viennese are probably nicer. But who cares - you're on holiday in Europe! :)
Exactly. It's all part of the cultural experience! At least the wine is dirt cheap!
